Long Plain Fire Department

This past year has been a fairly busy year for the Fire Department. We've responded to:

• 18 grass fires
• 12 car fires
• 3 garbage trailer fires
• 2 shed fires
• 1 house fire
• 1 controlled shed fire
• 3 false alarms at the school

Dog Control

In the Dog Control area, a total of 40 dogs and 13 cats had to be put down and 18 dogs were registered and tagged. This past spring, there was a report of 2 bears in the area and the game warden was called in and set up traps. There was also a cougar in the Portage area. We look forward to serving the community this coming year.
