As of January 31, 2006, the Indian Residential School Museum of Canada was introduced to a new team. The new museum
team; a Project Coordinator, Colleen Hocaluk; a Curator, Michael Eric Meeches and 2 Researchers, Calvin Myerion and
Ralph Francis were responsible for the project and its management. The Indian Residential School Museum of Canada
team is committed to completing the Strategic Development Study, as outlined in this report below.
There have been a number of obstacles and thought processes that have taken place since the hiring of new staff members. The time that we had to review and organize information up until now has involved plenty of effort. Since there are certain processes that must be followed for a complete and accurate project completion we are taking steps to review and structure the project accordingly.
The goal of the project is to complete a feasibility study and business plan. These combined will be known as the Strategic Development Study for the Indian Residential School Museum of Canada. The resulting document will be completed in stages with a development plan that will require updates and review.
Several consulting firms have been retained by the IRSMC since the beginning of the project to conduct various parts of the study. Each consulting firm that has been retained and has been contracted through an open competitive process using public request for proposal procedure.
