Land Management
This land management report commences on April 1st/05 till March 31st/06 and outlines all major land management
activities which includes professional development training, special projects, financial reports and land lease
revenues for 2005 crop year.
As in previous reports LPFN continues to work its mandate received from the federal government on Jan 29, 1981. This includes management and control of our land under Section 60 of the Indian Act. Other initiatives land management is presently involved in are as follows:
- Renewal of 39 Agricultural Leases - Land management has negotiated, documented and registered leases in headquarters.
- Commercial lease development at Long Plain and Long Plain Reserve 6B site.
- Reserves, lands and environmental management program participant from November 2005 till March 2006, completed technical training. The second part of this program ''Core-Training'' will take place in University of Saskatchewan in 2006.
- At present, land management is in the process of acquiring Sec. 53 of Indian Act seeking more authority for the benefit of Long Plain in the area economic development.
- ATR/TLE (Additions to Reserve/Treaty Land Entitlement) conversion Process - on going
- Street lighting from 305 HWY to Administration Office is on going
