Olympic Torch

Long Plain First Nation was proud to be a part of the Olympic Torch run for the 2010 Olympic Games on Friday January 8th, 2010. The Torch Bearer from Long Plain was Roger Merrick who carried the torch from the Tribal Government Building to the Long Plain School. Along the way a number of people lined the road to cheer on and support Roger Merrick in his run. It was a very proud moment for Roger and the people of Long Plain to be a part of this historic event. Running with Roger was Jamie Mousseau also from Long Plain.

The Torch received an honor song by North Eagle drum group and was blessed by Elder Donald Daniels at the Long Plain School. The children from the school were on hand to witness this event and also neighbours from surrounding communities. It was another proud moment for the people of Long Plain.
